Inspired by the Owner’s Middle Eastern heritage, we defined semi-outdoor spaces by arches. Smooth plaster wraps the various forms that extend outwards to views while simultaneously drawing you inwards to experience this family’s incredible hospitality.
Our client REALLY wanted a double curved staircase, to which I said, ...why the hell not?! I doubt that I would have designed a grand circular staircase at the entry if it wasn’t requested, but what is architecture, if not a direct collaboration with the user? And if the result makes your heart sing, then something’s going right.
Architecture + Landscape merge together and angled walkways lead you to wonder.
Ultimately, it’s about Saturday mornings on the couch with the fireplace on.
