Additional Dwelling Units

Known as ADUs in California and recognized more commonly around the world as “tiny homes,” “in-law units,” or our favorite “granny flats!” these secondary, self-contained dwellings are our architectural playgrounds. Each ADU is unique to its context, function, and form; In some instances, we draw inspiration from the main house style, and in others, we enjoy a bit of “business in the front, party in the back” shenanigans!

ADUs are small residential units on the same lot as a single-family or multi-family dwelling. They provide housing opportunities by creating small rental units that meet the housing needs of individuals and families, particularly those of low and moderate-income. They also allow a more efficient use of the City’s existing stock of dwellings and provide economic support for resident families.
